Minister

Reverend Maggie Melanson was born and raised in Montreal where she attended McGill University, graduating with a B.A. Honours in Political Science (International Relations). She comes to ministry after a lengthy career in the Ontario Public Service, the former Ottawa Board of Education and a training consultancy.

Her background in management and running her own business is a helpful addition to her role as the minister of this thriving suburban community of Barrhaven United Church. The real world connections of government, business, and industry allows her to speak authentically to the work environment experienced by many of the congregation members. Rev. Maggie's time as a student chaplain at both the Queensway Carleton and the Ottawa Hospitals introduced her to pastoral care needs in critical health situations. Her present day work with pastoral care teams is part of her passion.
