Deanna Lavier - Administrator

Hello. My name is Deanna Lavier and as the Office Administrator at Barrhaven United Church, I welcome you to our website and to our wonderful church.

I am proudly Ottawa born and raised. Some of my early years were spent in various parts of the Eastern United States and I also resided in Chilliwack, BC for eight years. I am happily settled back in Ottawa now with my teenagers, Alex and Arianne.

My interests outside of the church are varied; I love dining out, reading books of various genres, watching movies and enjoy going to musicals. In future years, I hope to add extensive travel and relaxation to my list.

I enjoy working with people very much. Three important traits I value in people and aspire to myself are honesty, respect and love. It is a pleasure to work with people within a church setting. For the most part, they are volunteers, who are very giving in nature.

Regarding special skills and training, mine are varied. My background has been in Social Services. I have worked as a Crisis Intervention Worker, worked with abused women and children, facilitated many family, youth and parenting workshops, and have also counseled youth and teens.

I have a very interesting role as Office Administrator within the church, acting as the central hub in a very busy atmosphere. I create and publish the weekly Church newsletter, manage the office, answer all email/telephone/visitor inquiries, assist Council members with various tasks, offer support to the minister, provide assistance with special events, and basically ensure everything runs smoothly. I also manage all the internal and external bookings and rentals and coordinate optimal usage of the building space. I work at keeping all of our tenants content.

I am at home at Barrhaven United Church. My position is ever-changing, challenging, and most rewarding. I will share my personal message with all of you:
